How It Works
A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is all about sculpting a fuller, rounder backside using your own fat—enhancing your curves naturally without implants.
Part One: The Consultation
Your BBL journey kicks off with a detailed one-on-one consultation that lasts about an hour. We’ll assess your body—focusing on fat donor sites (like abdomen, thighs, or flanks) and your buttocks’ current shape. You’ll share your goals: more volume, a higher lift, better symmetry, or all of the above. I’ll explain how we harvest fat via liposuction and inject it into your buttocks for a customized contour. Using imaging tools, we’ll preview your potential results, discuss how much fat you have to work with, the procedure details, and recovery. No question or concern will go unanswered!
Part Two: The Surgery
Performed under general anesthesia, a Brazilian Butt Lift typically takes 3-5 hours, depending on the amount of fat transferred. First, I use liposuction to gently remove fat from donor areas through small incisions (e.g., belly or love handles). That fat is purified, then strategically injected into your buttocks to enhance shape and projection. This is about giving you full, natural looking curves, not just increasing size.
Part Three: The Recovery
After surgery you will head home same-day with a compression garment for the liposuction sites, a special pillow to protect your new shape, and aftercare instructions including pain relief and incision care. Protecting your results while healing is key and for the first 72 hours after surgery you must rest on your stomach or sides. Swelling and bruising in donor and butt areas peak at 3-5 days and tapers off by week two. You’ll wear a compression garment for 4-6 weeks to reduce swelling and support lipo sites. Most return to light activities (like work) in 10-14 days, but no direct sitting for 2-3 weeks (use the BBL pillow instead). Over 6-12 weeks, some fat absorbs naturally, and your final Brazilian Butt Lift shape is revealed!
Common Patient Concerns About A Brazilian Butt Lift
“How long will recovery really take?”
Initial recovery is 2-3 weeks—swelling fades, and you’re back to light tasks. No direct sitting for 2-3 weeks (use a donut pillow or lie on your stomach); full sitting resumes at 8 weeks. Exercise waits 6-8 weeks, and final results refine over 3-6 months as fat stabilizes. We’ll give you a tailored timeline to fit your life.
“How painful is recovery and how do you help me manage it?”
General anesthesia keeps you pain-free during BBL surgery. Post-op, expect moderate soreness—like after an intense workout—in donor sites and your buttocks, peaking at 3-5 days. Pain meds (prescription or over-the-counter) handle it; discomfort fades by week two. Sleeping on your stomach feels odd but protects results. We check in regularly and schedule follow-ups for comfort.
“Will the scarring be noticeable?”
Scars are minimal—tiny (quarter-inch) liposuction marks in donor areas (e.g., tummy, thighs) fade to near-invisible dots in 6-12 months with care (sunscreen, silicone gel—we supply both). Butt injections leave no scars, keeping your curves pristine.
